Here are some resources I've used for hiking that you may find helpful.

Washington Trails Association

This fabulous non-profit organization is a go-to for anyone wanting to learn more about hiking.

Native Lands

I am beginning the process of educating myself about the native lands on which I hike. This map and site is full of resources. #HonorNativeLand

Garmin InReach Mini

This satellite communication device provides me with critical access to communicate when needed in remote areas.

GaiaGPS

This is the app I use to plan routes my hikes. It also shows me where I am on the trail and what mountains are around me!

Road Conditions

As someone who drives a 2wd, low clearance vehicle road conditions in the "snow months" becomes a critical component for hike planning. This covers only Mt Baker/Snoqualmie National Forest, but I wish they ALL had this!

Mountain Forecast

Weather is different in the mountains. If you're headed up, this is a great resource.

Snow Depth Interactive Map

This interactive map from Natural Resources Conservation Service National Water and Climate Center can provide insight into snow levels.

Northwest Avalanche Center

Another non-profit which provides information and training in regards to avalanche conditions.

Smoke Report

Sadly, now in the summer months we must add smoke conditions to the many factors of where to hike. This resource is very helpful.
